Los Angeles Professional Organizer Packing for Spirit Airlines
If you plan to travel with Spirit Airlines, choosing the perfect personal item backpack is essential. Packing all your clothes, toiletries, and cosmetics can be daunting, but with the right backpack, packing cubes, and organization, you can breeze through it all!
For Frontier and Spirit, personal items can be no bigger than 14 inches tall, 18 inches wide, and 8 inches long, emphasizing the goal of a compact and efficient packing system. This is my experience choosing my bag and what I chose for my 4-day trip to Las Vegas from Los Angeles. To create order in my choices, I focused on decluttering my options to ensure I could find what I needed quickly, reducing stress before my exciting journey. It felt overwhelming. There are so many choices, but the project of choosing the right luggage was streamlined by focusing on decluttering my options. First, do I pick a rolling luggage or backpack? I first bought the rolling luggage because of the functional aspects of having the wheels. I purchased the Underseat Pro because it seems to be the best system for ensuring I can easily access all my items without clutter in my travel space. It is a beautiful, minimally designed, executive-looking luggage. But when I opened it, the handles took up valuable space. Thus, I purchased a backpack instead. It was a perfect solution because all of it was usable space. I also used packing cubes, not just any cubes; they were compressed and lightweight. The best ones I found were “Eagle Creek Pack-It Specter Compression Packing Cubes S/M - Durable, Ultra-Lightweight and Water-Resistant Ripstop Fabric.” Don’t buy the Amazon imitators. I convinced my sister to improve hers to this brand. They have an excellent feel, and they are lightweight.
I have an expert tip that I want to share with you, especially if you are sharing a hotel room with your roommate and find it challenging to keep your belongings separate. You can use folding bins called SKUBBBox, which comes in a set of six, from IKEA to tidy and declutter your space. I placed two bins inside my backpack to give it structure (around the circumference). I unpacked one bin for the bathroom and the other in the room for storing my glasses, chargers, and office items. This way, I can easily keep track of my belongings, keep my space neat for my roommate, and avoid any confusion or mix-ups, thus reducing stress. Also, it makes me look highly organized, which is great because I am a professional organizer!
Other considerations for my packing were cosmetics. I had to narrow it down. At first, I packed a lot of products into my small cosmetic bag, but I wanted to be minimalist and edit it even more. I carefully planned out what makeup look matched what outfit, and I did not bring extras. This part of the planning did take extra time. So, my organizational mind is actively thinking about how to buy my makeup better. Here’s my tip: buy them in quads or duo-color containers for blush and eyeshadows. In my case, I had many single full-size cases and had to edit them, which was a valuable decluttering exercise. I wouldn’t have had to edit if I had them in a single container with multiple colors. My philosophy is whatever lifestyle you have, you should be able to repeat while traveling. This includes clothes, and if you have a well-rounded capsule wardrobe, you won’t have to go shopping for each trip, thus decluttering your packing process and reducing stress. We will discuss this in another blog.
